Aug 30, 2012 10:46 AM

Dwayne Morgan took an unofficial visit to Maryland last weekend.

“It was a really good visit. I like the school. I’m keeping my options open, but I really like Maryland. I still have a lot of time to make a decision, but it did make me look more at Maryland,” Morgan said. “I’ll be back for a football game and a couple of times during basketball.”

Morgan, a 6-foot-7 forward who is ranked No. 16 in the class of 2014, will take a trip to North Carolina this weekend.

“Academics are going to be a big part. The books are going to have to be straight for me to get on that court,” Morgan said.

Maryland Extends Offer To Romelo Trimble

Aug 23, 2012 11:02 AM

Romelo Trimble received a scholarship offer on Monday from Maryland, adding to his list of Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Xavier, Temple and Miami.

“They just said that they really like me and that I did really good switching from shooting guard to point guard,” said Trimble, who averaged nearly 20 points as a sophomore in the ultra-competitive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. “Coach (Mark) Turgeon was just saying he likes the way I play and he would like it if I came to Maryland because it’s the hometown school, about 20 minutes away, and he would like to get all the best players from here.”

Trimble, who stars at nearby Bishop O’Connell in Arlington, Va., is close friends with Roddy Peters, one of Maryland’s top 2013 targets.

“I think it would be good to play together,” he said. “We know how to play together.”

Troy Williams Set To Play At Oak Hill Academy, Targets Mid-November Commitment

Aug 19, 2012 8:44 PM

Troy Williams will play his senior season at Oak Hill Academy, a small preparatory school located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia.

"Everybody talks about all the players who went there," Williams said. "I'm mainly focusing on the maturity process. You play basketball and go to school. There's no outside distractions there. Everything you need is right there.

"Really, that's all I've been doing all summer, anyway. It won't be that much different. There will be video games there. I don't go out and party and all that, anyway. It won't be that much of a change."

Williams, a top-50 recruit in the 2013 class, expects to commit on or shortly after Nov. 14, when the early signing period begins.

The 6-foot-6 forward has offers from Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgetown, Louisville, Florida and South Carolina.

Maryland Zeroing In On Recruitment Of Roddy Peters

Aug 17, 2012 10:49 AM

Roddy Peters has seemingly become Maryland’s top priority for the 2013 class.

The 6-foot-4 point guard from District Heights (Md.) took an official visit to College Park earlier this week.

“It went really good. I liked it,” said Peters, whose rapid summer ascent landed him as a consensus top-50 recruit. "They took me around to see everything, I got to see the dorms, talked to a couple of the players (Nick Faust and Pe’Shon Howard), met the trainers … They just said that they really want me at Maryland. That’s what (my mom) liked. Coach (Mark) Turgeon told me he really wanted me. She likes them.

“He told me how I can come in and be a point guard, how he thinks I fit the style,” he continued. “Of course, they were all saying that I should commit, but I still want to weigh my options.”

Peters is also considering Georgetown, Xavier, UCLA, Memphis and Rutgers.

“At first everyone thought I would commit [when Maryland offered], but I have all types of schools now. It’s really all about where I’m most comfortable,” he said. “I’ve got some thinking to do. I think I’ll commit during basketball season.”
